The Eliot Tower – Portland, Oregon

Services Employed: Architectural Design, Interior Design, Sustainable Design, Space Planning

CLIENT: Eliot Tower, LLC

CLIENT GOAL: Design a contemporary, world-class residential tower in downtown Portland.

DESIGN RESPONSE: The project’s striking modern design responds to a request from the Portland Development Commission and the Mayor’s office for more contemporary architecture in downtown Portland. The glass window wall features a Mondrian-like composition of solids and voids, providing living units with dramatic floor to ceiling views of the city. The 18-story mixed-use condominium tower has active retail at the ground floor and 228 residential units ranging from 650 sf to over 2000 sf. A plaza at the north end of the building provides an outdoor space for both tenants and the public. AMAA is architect of record in collaboration with design architect ZGF. The Eliot was awarded LEED ND Silver, the first LEED ND project in the country.
