University Retirement Community at Davis – Davis, California

CLIENT: Pacific Retirement Services

CLIENT GOAL: Develop and put into action a master plan that fully utilizes the 10 acre campus near the University of California at Davis.

DESIGN RESPONSE: The master plan for this Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) provides the full spectrum of choices in retirement living and health care facilities, including 18 cottages, 16 garden apartments, 196 independent apartments, 32 assisted living units and a 37 bed health center with a 14 bed Alzheimer wing. On-site amenities include activity/craft rooms, meeting and dining rooms, library, coffee shop/deli, exercise and fitness center with a swimming pool and underground parking. The approximate overall square footage of the project is 425,000. The Interior Design theme of the CCRC was modeled after the Maybeck architectural style.

This project was the recipient of the 2000 IIDA Merit Award and an Excellence in Hospitality Design 2000 Gold Key Award Finalist, Hospitality Design and Lodging Magazine.
