Services Employed: Architectural Design, Interior Design
CLIENT: Sheet Metal Workers Union
CLIENT GOAL: Design a cost-effective, full service school for training apprentice sheet metal workers.
DESIGN RESPONSE: The building forms and materials were kept simple and straight forward to minimize costs. A double height glass volume identifies the building entrance and provides a strong first impression. The building houses sheet metal and welding shops, computer classrooms, labs, standard classrooms, locker rooms, flexible lease space, and admission/administration offices serving the local sheet metal union and apprentice program. The interior and exterior incorporate exposed steel elements, evoking the student's trade.
