CLIENT: Starterra LLC
CLIENT GOAL: Design a high-rise office tower that takes best advantage of its site and adds vitality to an under utilized area of Portlands Central Business District.
DESIGN RESPONSE: This 500,000 square foot, 19-story mixed-use office tower is located adjacent to the Portland Convention Center, just across the river from downtown. The project will enliven the Districts pedestrian realm with 3,000 square feet of retail lining the ground floor. The projects orientation will provide tenants with spectacular views of downtown. A bike hub on the ground floor will include storage for bikes, as well as lockers and showers for people who commute to the building by bike. A key catalyst in revitalizing the district, the office building will add a significant number of new riders to mass transit in the area, taking advantage of a light rail stop next to the office building and a major Transit Center one stop away. The tower is registered with the certification goal of LEED Silver.
