LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 19, 2008 Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects was honored today with two Los Angeles Architectural Awards for Luma for outstanding architecture in the Green Building Built and Multifamily High-rise categories. In addition Luma was awarded the Residential Landscape Architecture award for the streetscape design of Elleven, Luma, and Evo. Hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC), the 38th annual awards ceremony brought together world renowned architects, developers and contractors to acknowledge and celebrate the most laudable new projects in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles Architectural Awards are presented to the project teams whose contributions improve the quality of architecture and enhance the urban fabric of Los Angeles.
"We are pleased to recognize Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects for their contribution to enhancing the world-class level of contemporary architecture in Los Angeles. It is the talent and creativity of their entire project team that makes development of this high quality and aesthetic appeal possible," according to Mary Leslie, President of the Los Angeles Business Council.
In a new award category this year, the LABC and Mayor Villaraigosa presented the first Los Angeles Green Building Award to the Ankrom Moisan Team for Luma. This new category was created in order to properly acknowledge deserving projects that advance sustainable development in the city.
All awardees were selected by a thirteen-member jury of distinguished peers including architects, contractors and developers. To receive an award, projects had to be located within Los Angeles County and completed during 2006 or 2007 (unbuilt category exempt).
