Culture

We have the resources of a large firm, but the open, collaborative culture of a small firm. The office is organized in teams tailored to each project, so we give every client dedicated, personalized attention.

Organizational Structure

Ankrom Moisan believes that in order to take good care of our clients, we must take good care of our employees. When a new employee recently asked Tom Moisan for an organizational chart, he drew a picture of a tree. He explained that the trunk of the tree represents the management team. Its role is to support and nurture the staff, providing teams with the resources necessary to be successful, including a deep knowledge base that goes to the roots of the company. The branches of the tree are the project teams. Each branch grows organically to meet the needs of our clients and produces the “fruit” of the firm, which is architecture.

Using this non-hierarchical, organic structure, we empower employees and project teams to make decisions that best serve the project and the client. We believe that the staff working on a project has the best understanding of how to help our clients achieve their vision. They draw resources and expertise from the management team when they need it. This leads to efficient and effective decision making and has created an atmosphere of trust and respect that carries forward to our relationships with everyone on a project, from the client to sub consultants. We have found this kind of supportive structure provides the best environment for our project teams to be collaborative, responsive, creative and successful.

Employee Quotes

I think one of AMAA's strongest assets is our relaxed, enjoyable working environment.  An overall sense of community prevails here, magnified by the social things many of us do together outside of work.  Really the overall "vibe" of the place is amazing.  I don't feel like I work at a big firm.
